WRD minister inspects anti-erosion work at Bagaha

State water resources minister Sanjay Kumar Jha, who arrived at Bagaha on a two-day visit on Wednesday, inspected left bank of the Gandak river where anti-erosion work was done to save Bagaha town from flood.

BAGAHA: State water resources minister Sanjay Kumar Jha, who arrived at Bagaha on a two-day visit on Wednesday, inspected left bank of the Gandak river where anti-erosion work was done to save Bagaha town from flood.
During the inspection of anti-erosion work at Parasnagar, Anand Nagar and Shastrinagar under Bagaha nagar parishad, the minister said the town would be saved at all cost, along with NH-727 which runs near the left bank of the Gandak.

The entire work costs around Rs 9 crore.He said that 2 lakh sand bags would be kept ready to meet any eventuality, and stressed the need to increase the height of the protection bundh. Jha further said, "We do not afraid from local rain, but heavy rain in Nepal."
Jha was to stay in the night at Valmikinagar and will inspect Gandak barrage on Thursday, and hold a review meeting with administrative and water resources officials. He also also visit Shri Khola in Nepal where protection work was also completed under the Nepal benefit scheme.
Jha will proceed for Gopalganj on Friday. He was accompanied by MLC Bhisham Sahani, West Champaran DM Dinesh kumar Rai, West Champaran DDC Anil kumar, Bagaha SP Kiran Kumar Gorakh Jadav, SDM Anupma Singh and flood control engineers.
